For the invention of an unbonded brace and for the development of innovative aseismic technology using high-performance steel, Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering Co., Ltd. received an award given to products that contribute to the progress and development of a new industry.
In the construction of the Tokyo Skytree (634m)—the world’s highest stand-alone communications tower—Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering Co., Ltd. was in charge of the steel frame production. The precision machining of several thousand branch joints (connections) was most challenging. In order to complete the task, extremely complicated and highly advanced technology was required. However, we successfully resolved such issue and contributed to the completion of the tower. Based on this achievement, Nippon Steel & Sumikin Engineering Co., Ltd. received the society award from the Japanese Society of Steel Construction.
